Then became the fine art of creating a fabulous stone wall at the entrance.

Step 1... taking the existing wall down, digging out the foundations then laying the concrete...ready for the new wall to be created. It has to be said Dad and Rob did a wonderful job even with an annoying person (yours truly) pointing a camera at them at all angles, and then telling them to do it again as I missed the shot… oops!

Step 2… was creating the new wall. It really was like watching artists at work, the number of hours, training and a keen eye that went into this was spectacular.

First of all, it was a family trip up to Alston to collect the amazing stone to create the wall, and then the magic began. The stonemasons would pick through the stones and be able to see straight away which ones were good or not, then they began their jigsaw of building it. It looks incredible, not only that the top coping stones were hand-carved which finished the look off perfectly. We still need the pillars completed and the problem with it looking so amazing is now we need to extend it to the tree line. Safe to say it will be worth it, in the long run.
